Duet — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026

Duet ("the app", "we", "us") turns two selfies into a single AI-generated couple portrait. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the third-party services involved.

Information we process

We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name or contacts. Some third-party services we use may collect device identifiers and approximate (network-based) location — see "Third-party services" below.

Face data

Because Duet creates a portrait from selfies, the photos you choose contain face data (images of human faces). We want to be precise about how this is handled:

How we use it

Artificial intelligence (AI) processing & your consent

Your portrait is created by a third-party AI image model, Google Gemini, operated by Google and acting on our behalf. Before your photos are sent to this AI for the first time, the app shows an in-app disclosure and asks for your explicit consent. Your photos are transmitted only after you agree, are used solely to generate your result, and are not used to train AI models. You can withdraw your consent at any time in Settings → Revoke AI consent; you will be asked to agree again before your next portrait. See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles data.

Third-party services

The app uses third-party services that may collect information used to identify you. Links to the privacy policy of each provider are below:

Log data

Whenever you use the app, in the event of an error we may collect — through third-party products — Log Data on your device. This Log Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when using our service, the time and date of your use, and other statistics.

Cookies

This service does not use cookies explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use "cookies" or similar identifiers to collect information and improve their services. You can accept or refuse these where the relevant provider allows.

Service providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our service, provide it on our behalf, perform service-related tasks, or assist us in analyzing how our service is used. These third parties have access to your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

Data retention

We do not maintain a user-facing library of your uploads. Photos you upload — including the face data they contain — are retained only as long as needed to process a request and are not stored for later reuse. See the Face data section above.

Security

We value your trust in providing us your information, and we use commercially acceptable means of protecting it (such as HTTPS transmission). But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Links to other sites

The app, or advertising shown within it, may contain links to other sites. If you click a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us, so we strongly advise you to review their privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children

Duet is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take the necessary action.

Your choices

You control which photos you upload. You can stop using the app at any time. You can withdraw your consent to AI processing at any time in Settings → Revoke AI consent. On Android you can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings; on iOS you can manage tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. For any request regarding your data, contact us below.
